I was presented with an opportunity to go to a soccer game at one of the stadiums in the US.  I like watching soccer on tv, but I'm not sure if I would like it in person.  I just envision empty stands and not a fun vibe.  Anyone been to a soccer match in the states?  How is it compared to other sporting events?

really depends on match and location. cities like austin, portland, columbus, or KC are great soccer towns with full stands and great atmosphere

i've been to one game years ago in a populated area. It was tons of fun, stands were packed, lots of cheering and crowds. We left with 10 min left as the game was a forgone conclusion and we wanted to beat traffic. I am looking forward to going again this year.
