There are some anime that are amazing, but I feel like many should not have been made at all. Even if I exclude the genres I don't typically like, in my own preferred genres I have had to drop a few anime because it is just horrible. I wouldn't say its overrated, just people consider it just cartoons and not for adults or don't understand the attraction to it.
